New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – The New York Yankees avoided arbitration
with right-hander Esmil Rogers on Wednesday, signing the right-hander to a
one-year deal.
The deal is believed to be worth $750,000, but he could earn up to $1.48
million.
Rogers was claimed off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays on July 31 and made
18 appearances (one start) for the Yankees, going 2-0 with a 4.68 ERA. He also
posted a 23/10 K/BB ratio in 25 innings.
The 29-year-old hurler broke into the majors with Colorado in 2009 and is
18-21 lifetime with a 5.54 ERA in 192 games (43 starts) for the Rockies,
Cleveland Indians and Yankees.
