White Sox, Brad Penny agree on deal

(SportsNetwork.com) – The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms on a deal
with veteran right-hander Brad Penny, who made a comeback this past season
with the Miami Marlins.

Penny’s management agency confirmed the deal in a tweet on Tuesday.

Multiple outlets, including SB Nation, said it was a minor league deal with an
invitation to spring training.

Penny, 36, returned to the majors in August after almost two years and went
2-1 with a 6.58 ERA in eight games, including four starts.

The right-hander pitched out of the bullpen for San Francisco in 2012 in his
previous MLB season and hadn’t made a start since Sept. 25, 2011, with
Detroit.

He won a World Series ring with the Marlins in 2003 and is 121-101 with a 4.29
ERA in 349 career games for the Marlins, Dodgers, Red Sox, Giants, Cardinals
and Tigers.
