Minneapolis, MN (SportsNetwork.com) – The Minnesota Twins announced Friday
that they have signed free-agent pitcher Ervin Santana to a four-year
contract.
Financial terms were not released, but multiple outlets reported during the
winter meetings that the right-hander’s contract is worth $54 million and
includes a vesting option for a fifth year.
Santana, who turned 32 on Friday, started 31 games for the Atlanta Braves in
2014 and was 14-10 with a 3.95 ERA. He also struck out 179 batters in 196
innings and allowed just 16 home runs after surrendering a league-high 39 two
years before.
The hurler spent the first eight years of his career with the Los Angeles
Angels of Anaheim before pitching for the Kansas City Royals in 2013. He is
119-100 lifetime with a 4.17 ERA 299 games (296 starts).
