Royals give Yost extension

Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – After helping the Royals to the
postseason for the first time in 29 years, Kansas City rewarded manager Ned
Yost with a one-year contract extension on Tuesday.

The new deal will take Yost through the 2016 season.

Kansas City won 89 games in 2014 to clinch one of two wild card spots in the
American League. Yost then became the first manager in major league history to
win his first eight postseason games, capping it with the American League
title.

The Royals took San Francisco to a seventh game in the 2014 World Series,
before losing the deciding game.

Overall, Yost is 830-904 in 11 seasons as manager, going 373-402 in his time
with the Royals. He trails only Whitey Herzog (410) and Dick Howser (404) for
wins in franchise history.
