Royals cruise past Twins

Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – Kendrys Morales and Paulo Orlando each
knocked in two runs as the Kansas City Royals beat the Minnesota Twins 7-1 in
the opener of a three-game series.

Salvador Perez went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Royals, who
improved to 10-3 on the young season. Edinson Volquez (2-1) allowed one run on
five hits while striking out five and walking one over seven innings.

Kyle Gibson (1-2) got the start for Minnesota and gave up four runs — three
earned — on four hits over five-plus innings. The right-hander, who also
issued four walks, entered Monday’s game unbeaten in four starts against the
Royals.
