pitcher Danny Duffy avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract on

Duffy went 9-12 with a 2.53 ERA in 31 games (25 starts) for the Royals last
year. He also appeared out of the bullpen in three postseason games, including
two during the World Series against the Giants.
