Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Boston Red Sox signed pitcher Alexi
Ogando to a one-year contract on Friday.
Ogando, 31, went 2-3 with a 6.84 ERA over 27 relief appearances last season
with Texas before right elbow inflammation ended his season in June.
The right-hander, who was an All-Star in 2011, has compiled a 28-16 record
with a 3.35 ERA over 183 games (48 starts) in five seasons with the Rangers.
To make room for Ogando on the 40-man roster, Boston designated pitcher Drake
Britton for assignment.
