Red Sox claim Juan Francisco off waivers

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Boston Red Sox claimed infielder Juan
Francisco off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Francisco, 27, spent this past season with the Toronto Blue Jays after being
released by the Milwaukee Brewers in March.

In 320 plate appearances split between first base, third base and designated
hitter, Francisco batted .220 with 16 home runs and 34 total extra-base hits,
mostly against right-handed pitching.

In 404 career games for the Cincinnati Reds, Atlanta Braves, Brewers and Blue
Jays, Francisco has batted .236 with a .297 on-base percentage and 48 home
runs.
