Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – The Texas Rangers have signed infielder
Adam Rosales to a one-year contract for the 2015 season.
The Rangers non-tendered Rosales back in December. He hit .262 with four home
runs, 20 runs scored and 19 RBI in 56 games for Texas last season.
Rosales is a career .226 hitter with 24 home runs, 106 runs scored and 99 RBI
over 375 games with Cincinnati (2008-09), Oakland (2010-13) and Texas
(2013-14).
To make room on the 40-man roster for Rosales, the Rangers designated pitcher
Matt West for assignment.
The Rangers also signed pitcher Juan Carlos Oviedo to a minor league contract
with an invitation to major league spring training.
Oviedo went 3-3 with a 3.69 ERA in 32 relief appearances for Tampa Bay last
season in his return from Tommy John surgery. The right-hander has a career
21-23 record with 93 saves and a 4.28 ERA for the Royals (2005-08), Marlins
(2009-11) and Rays (2014).
