Pujols, Cron help Angels beat Rangers

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – C.J. Cron and Albert Pujols each knocked in
two runs during the Los Angeles Angels’ 4-1 win over the Texas Rangers on
Saturday.

Kole Calhoun went 3-for-4 for the Angels, who have won three in a row. C.J.
Wilson allowed one run on seven hits while striking out four and walking three
over 5 2/3 innings. Vinny Pestano (1-0) got the win after recording the final
out in the sixth.

Colby Lewis (1-2) gave up two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and two
walks over five-plus innings for the Rangers, who have lost three straight.

Texas took a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Adrian Beltre singled, moved to second on
Elvis Andrus’ single, advanced to third when Shin-Soo Choo flied out and raced
home on a wild pitch. Adam Rosales struck out looking to end the inning.

The Rangers loaded the bases with one out in the sixth. Rosales popped out
before Pestano took over for Wilson. Robinson Chirinos then grounded out to
keep it a one-run game.

The Angels scored three runs in the bottom half of the frame. Grant Green and
Calhoun singled and Mike Trout walked to load the bases with no outs. Roman
Mendez replaced Lewis and immediately gave up an RBI single to Pujols. On the
play, Calhoun was thrown out at the plate.

Erick Aybar worked a two-out walk to load the bases for Cron, who hit a two-
run single to center. On the play, Aybar was thrown out at home to end the
inning.

Los Angeles tacked on another run in the seventh. Tanner Scheppers walked
Pujols with the bases loaded to force in a run.

Huston Street tossed a scoreless ninth for his seventh save of the season.
