San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The San Diego Padres have placed starter
Ian Kennedy on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain.
Kennedy exited his first start of the season in the middle of the third inning
on Thursday after feeling a twinge.
“The whole time I felt something wasn’t right,” Kennedy said after the game.
“I didn’t feel a pop or anything, I just wasn’t going to hurt my arm trying to
change my mechanics.”
Odrisamer Despaigne relieved Kennedy and pitched 4 2/3 perfect innings, but
the Padres lost to the Giants 1-0 in 12 innings.
Kennedy, 30, posted a 3.63 ERA in 33 starts with the Padres last season.
The Padres also made several moves with their Triple-A affiliate in El Paso,
as they sent down pitcher Nick Vincent, recalled pitcher Brandon Maurer and
selected the contract of pitcher Chris Rearick.
Pitcher Cory Luebke was moved from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL.
