Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Baltimore Orioles placed infielder
Jonathan Schoop on the 15-day disabled list with a sprain and partially torn
ligament in his right knee.
In the second inning, Schoop was on the receiving end of a hard slide from
Pablo Sandoval while trying to turn a double play, but manager Buck Showalter
says the injury occurred when Schoop tripped at first base in the fifth
inning.
Schoop was batting .259 with a .310 on-base percentage and three home runs in
nine games this season.
To take his place on the roster, the Orioles activated infielder Jimmy Paredes
off the disabled list. He was 1-for-4 in one rehab appearance for Double-A
Bowie. He missed the start of the season with a lower-back strain.
