Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – The Houston Astros signed free agent
shortstop Jed Lowrie to a three-year contract on Monday.
The deal is reportedly worth $23 million and includes a club option for 2018.
Lowrie, 30, batted .249 with six home runs and 50 RBI over 136 games last
season for the Oakland Athletics. He hit a career-high 16 homers with the
Astros in 2012.
Over seven major league seasons with Boston, Houston and Oakland, Lowrie has
