Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Los Angeles Dodgers made it official
Tuesday and signed pitcher Brandon McCarthy to a four-year contract.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but reports at last week’s Winter Meetings
indicated the deal was worth $48 million for the Glendale, California native.
McCarthy is coming off the first 200-inning season of his career. After
posting a 3-10 record with a 5.01 ERA in 18 starts with Arizona, he was traded
in early July to the New York Yankees and went 7-5 with a 2.89 ERA over 14
outings. His 5.30 strikeout-to-walk ratio was ninth among all major league
starters.
In nine seasons with the White Sox, Rangers, Athletics, Diamondbacks and
Yankees, the 31-year-old right-hander owns a 52-65 record with a 4.09 ERA in
989 1/3 career innings.
