Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) – The Chicago Cubs have agreed to terms on a
one-year contract with outfielder Chris Denorfia on Friday.
Denorfia, 34, split 121 games between the San Diego Padres and Seattle
Mariners last season, compiling a .230 batting average with three home runs
and 21 RBI.
Although his numbers were down last season, the nine-year veteran owns a
career .272 batting average with 38 homers and 178 RBI over 705 career games
with Cincinnati, Oakland, San Diego and Seattle.
To make room for Denorfia on the 40-man roster, the Cubs designated pitcher
Mike Kickham for assignment.
