San Francisco, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Josh Collmenter tossed a four-hit
shutout and the Arizona Diamondbacks routed the slumping San Francisco Giants
9-0 in the second of a four-game set on Friday.
David Peralta went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored, A.J.
Pollock had four hits and an RBI and Jake Lamb tripled and drove in two runs
for the Diamondbacks, who were coming off a 7-6, 12-inning win for the series
opener.
Collmenter (1-2) allowed just four hits and one walk with two strikeouts and
also contributed on the offensive side of the ball with three hits and an RBI.
“Not only the pitching, but the bat was incredible,” Diamondbacks manager Chip
Hale said of Collmenter. “Just an overall great game and just what we needed.”
Jake Peavy (0-2) gave up four runs on eight hits in just 3 2/3 frames for the
Giants, who dropped their eighth straight game.
“We’re in a tough rut,” San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy said. “Right now, we
aren’t playing very well.”
In the third, Paul Goldschmidt followed a pair of one-out singles with one of
his own to put Arizona on the board. Two batters later, Lamb smacked a two-run
triple to right for a 3-0 lead.
Collmenter helped his own cause in the fourth with an RBI single and Tuffy
Gosewisch followed suit in the fifth for a five-run advantage for the
visitors.
After Peralta’s RBI double in the sixth, Chris Owings hit a leadoff single and
came home on Collmenter’s single compounded by a Gregor Blanco error for a 7-0
game.
In the ninth, Pollock brought in Collmenter with a double and Ender Inciarte
hustled home on a sacrifice fly to account for the final score.

Lamb has reached base in all eight games he’s played this season … The
Diamondbacks lead the season series, 3-2.
