New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Atlanta Braves pitcher Arodys Vizcaino
received an 80-game suspension Thursday after testing positive for the
performance-enhancing substance Stanozolol.
Vizcaino, rated the No. 13 overall prospect in the Braves’ system by MLB.com,
was reacquired by Atlanta from the Chicago Cubs in November in exchange for
infielder Tommy La Stella.
The 24-year-old right-hander pitched in five games for the Cubs last season
and made 17 relief appearances with Atlanta in 2011. Vizcaino began his career
in the Braves’ organization before being traded to Chicago in July of 2012.
Atlanta optioned Vizcaino to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday.
