Astros announce Gregerson, Neshek deals

Houston, TX ( – The Houston Astros announced Friday they
have signed free-agent relievers Luke Gregerson and Pat Neshek to multi-year

Gregerson was signed to a three-year deal through the 2017 season and Neshek
inked a two-year contract through 2016.

Financial terms of the contracts were not released. Multiple outlets reported
during the winter meetings this week that Gregerson’s deal was worth $18.5
million and Neshek’s was for $12.5 million.

The Astros landed the bullpen veterans after coming up short in their pursuit
of relievers Andrew Miller and David Robertson.

Gregerson, 30, pitched for the Oakland Athletics this past season, going 5-5
with a 2.12 ERA and three saves in 72 appearances. He spent the first five
seasons of his career with the San Diego Padres and has a lifetime ERA of 2.75
in 435 games, all out of the bullpen.

Neshek, 34, was 7-2 with a 1.87 ERA in 71 appearances for the St. Louis
Cardinals this past season. He had 68 strikeouts and only nine walks and in 67
1/3 innings.

Over his eight-year career, Neshek has a 2.78 ERA in 297 games for Minnesota,
San Diego, Oakland and St. Louis.
