A’s ink Davis, Rodriguez to 1-year contracts

Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Oakland Athletics agreed to terms with
first baseman Ike Davis and right-handed pitcher Fernando Rodriguez on one-
year contract on

Davis was acquired by Oakland on Nov. 23 from Pittsburgh in an exchange of
international bonus slots, with the Pirates gaining the No. 27 slot and the
A’s landing slot No. 86.

The 27-year-old hit just .233 with 11 homers and 51 RBI in 143 games split
between the Pirates and Mets in 2014. Over five major league seasons, Davis
owns a .240 average with 78 homers and 270 RBI.

Rodriguez went 1-0 with a 1.00 earned run average in seven relief
appearances over two stints with the A’s last season after missing the
previous campaign due to Tommy John surgery.

Oakland also announced that it did not tender contracts to first baseman Kyle
Blanks and outfielder Andrew Brown. Both players were designated for
assignment in late November.
